StandBy Mode Repaired - Videocon LCD TV

This Videocon LCD TV complaint was red light or in standby mode and it can’t be turned on using the remote control or even by pressing on the front panel power button.Usually standby mode problem in TV is caused by the mainboard section or improper dc supply voltage by the SMD voltage regulator IC.

Once the cover was removed, I could see three circuit boards. One is the power supply board, one is the Inverter board and the last one was Mainboard or Main SMD IC board.

I took out my digital multimer to check on the SMD voltage regulator ICs 2.5 volt and 3.3 volt and both ICs were found to be good. The 12 volt and the 5 volts were presence also.

Since the DC supply voltages were good, I now focused on the mainboard MCU IC. This IC was covered with a metal shielding and once it was removed I was surprised to see dead ants and dust on the IC legs/pins. See the two photos below:

Next, I cleaned up the IC area using a used tooth brush and with a cleaning solution.

Once done the cleaning, I do a reflow on the IC using my SMD rework station. When I put back the mainboard and powered On, the display came out and no more red light-problem solved!
